Nederlandse of Thais rijbewijs gebruiken?

Voordeel van Thais rijbewijs gebruiken: soms hoef je slechts de Thaise toegangsprijs te betalen ipv speciale farang prijzen bv als je op een lange rit door een nationaal park komt en toevallig aangehouden wordt

lukt niet altijd maar zonder Thais rijbewijs kun je het zelfs niet proberen

Na twee jaar Thailand werd mijn NL rbw en int rbw niet meer aanvaard voor de motor. Ik had een retirement verlenging en kreeg het advies maar een Thais rbw te gaan halen. Op mijn geldig NL rbw (met iets als 'rijwiel met hulpmotor', ik had geen rbw A) en een verlopen int rbw kreeg ik mijn motorbewijs; doktersbriefje nodig en geen test gedaan. Het risico was aanwezig dat de verzekering bij schade niet zou uitkeren want ik had als feitelijk bewoner van dit land geen nationaal rbw. Binnenkort ga ik het auto-rbw halen.

Het is je bekend dat er in Udon Thani een autorijschool is,waar je theorie in het engels behandeld wordt
en je daar niet vertrekt voordat je geslaagd bent.

Bij een rijschool kun je niet slagen voor een rijbewijs, wel bij het Department of transport.

Wel mijnheer weet alles beter,die examinatoren van het Dept.of Transport zijn iedere week 1 dag aanwezig in die rijschool,en verstrekken je een certificaat dat je geslaagd bent en de volgende dag kan je daar je rijbewijs ophalen,bij het kantoor Dept.of Transport onder het AEK Udon Hospitaal.

a Thai Driving Licence with a Tourist Visa

b) Residence address in Thailand certified by the British Embassy in Bangkok or
by the Thai Immigration Office in the area you are staying

c) Medical Certificate stating good health, obtainable from a GP in Thailand

d) Two recent passport size photographs

e) Driving Licence of country of nationality / residence

f) Fee: Baht 105 for cars and Baht 55 for motorcycles (subject to change without notice)

Applying for a Thai Driving Licence must be made in person. Foreigners unable to speak Thai are advised to arrange for a Thai friend to accompany them to provide interpretation. Fill in the application form (issued in Thai language only) and attach the required documentary evidence as indicated above. Join a class for instruction on the laws related to driving and how to drive safely in Thailand - the class is for two hours. Take a test for colour blindness. Take a written test (in Thai language only) on the rules of driving (see Note 1 below). Take the driving test (see Note 1 below). Pay the licence fee and wait for the licence. You must be at least 18 years old to drive a car in Thailand. There are separate driving licences for cars and motorcycles. The Thai Driving Licence is valid for one year.

Misschien dat ik er met mijn glas-in-lood-gezicht geheel naast zit te gapen, maar op de mot.gov.th website (Engelse uitvoering) GEEN woord over een rijbewijs. Wel over allerlei registraties, vaarbewijzen, kleurwijzigingen, etc, maar een rijbewijs?
Dit staat uiteraard wel op de Thaise uitvoering en dus is het probleem van de rijbewijzen voor de buitenlanders opgelost: Niet nodig!! Toch?
