Kasit assures foreign envoys there will be no coup
Foreign Minister Kasit Piromya Friday assured foreign envoys that there will be no coup and the government has been prepared to handle the red-shirt protesters.
Deputy Foreign Ministry spokesman Thanee Thongphadee said Kasit met two groups of foreign envoys from Asia and Africa and from Europe and America to assure them that the government would be in control of the situation.
The spokesman quoted Kasit as telling the envoys that the government would use safety measures, which are acceptable to the International Community, to deal with the protesters. The Internal Security Act might invoked to control the situation.
The government will ensure that the daily life of Thais and foreigners in the country would not be affected by the protests.
The envoys were also briefed of the latest political situation, Thanee said.
